• Title Couple Open Up About Their 47 Year Age Gap Relationship As Commenters Label Man As 'Jimmy Saville Reborn'
• Summary Tony and Jess Bluden, 74 and 26 respectively, have been married for 12 months and have recently taken to social media to discuss their relationship with positive and negative reception. The welsh couple have been together for three years and began when Tony's adopted daughter asked if her friend, Jess, could stay as her family situation was difficult at the time. That period extended into a week, then months, with Jess' deteriorating home environment becoming less than ideal. Jess has a learning disability and autism but, Tony's experience as a social carer naturally transferred to his developing relationship with Jess following the death of his wife to cancer five years previously. Tony had become lonely in his romantic life and Jess was in need of additional care and over the coming months, the two grew a strong bond. Tony said: "I simply state the reality of how a lonely older man, lonely because his wife died of cancer, can be attracted to someone needing practical support to overcome her social difficulties. "The parents gave little support to Jess and together we found relatives that the family had avoided contact with for some years, giving Jess a wider identity, confidence in herself and trust in me." Their relationship blossomed as the two spend time together with Tony showing Jess new experiences despite their differences in age. Tony has discussed the possibility of children, death and the way he has been able to lift up Jess' confidence after years of disability abuse she has received. Tony continued: "One of the main concerns that people with concerns raise is that I am controlling and manipulating Jess. First visual impression is that Jess 'looks disabled' are the words used. Naturally someone who is told often enough that they look disabled tend to be affected. "We would like children together, but we are aware that I might not be around to help with the growing up bit. "Also will our children have a disability and how would caring for a baby and old person be practical for Jess. "Some people suggest that I am holding Jess back because I should be sitting in an armchair with my slippers on. But in fact Jess has never enjoyed fast or noisy venues and it is me that is introducing her to new experiences. "We have discussed my death and later year care needs, and how Jess will manage when I die." Since posting their relationship to the public in a bid to share their love no matter the age, Tony and Jess have been the recipients of negative comments. Tony said: "People who say 'You act like Jimmy Saville reborn' I respond by saying that that is like saying President Biden and Ex-President Trump are the same because they do similar things. "I am articulate enough to respond positively to all negative comments, however Jess has spent a lifetime of knock-downs and finds it harder. We are not hurting anybody through our relationship.
