- Title Man Arrested For Calling Police Inspector A 'Muppet'
- Summary An auditor who was taking pictures of illegally parked police cars was arrested by an inspector after he called him a 'muppet'. Known online as 'Auditing Yorkshire', this man was shocked by the amount of police cars parked on the pavement in Huddersfield and began taking pictures so that he could report them on August 20. As Auditing Yorkshire was taking pictures of the cars, a police van pulled up with flashing blue lights and an inspector jumped out and asked what he was doing. Explaining that he was just capturing evidence of the wrongly parked cars, the officer states that taking pictures of public buildings is an offence and that he can't do that. Confused, Auditing Yorkshire and the inspector argued for a few minutes before eventually he walked away, after being warned for 'obstructing the highway'. As he walked away, he turned around and called the inspector a muppet and to his surprise, the inspector immediately stormed over and stated he would be arrested under public order if he called him a muppet again. Auditing Yorkshire began laughing at the officer before the inspector eventually stated that he was under arrest and led him towards the station. He was allegedly held for 90 minutes before being released without charge. Auditing Yorkshire said: "I was arrested for calling a police inspector a muppet cause he didn't like me filming the illegally parked police cars. "I was disgusted by the attitude and lack of professionalism by the police. "Many people online have agreed with me and are shocked at how the Inspector reacted." A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "West Yorkshire Police is aware of a video circulating on social media of an incident outside Huddersfield Police Station. "A man was arrested and accepted a community resolution for a public order offence. "A complaint has been received which is being progressed by the Professional Standards Directorate. The complainant will be updated with the outcome of their complaint in due course. "Police in Kirklees are aware of issues with parking outside the police station and are working with Kirklees Council looking at further parking options. "Those working at Huddersfield Police Station have been reminded not to park in front of the building unless in the designated bays and wider Force messaging is also being delivered to officers and staff who don't normally work in Kirklees."
