• Summary This family was shocked to have a surprise visitor on the first day of their vacation as a wild bear climbed up their balcony and swiped at them. While on holiday in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Angie Cundiff caught the close call with the mammal on camera. Wanting to get a closer look at the bear, she leaned over the railing and began to film it. However, the bear wasn’t happy with this close up and jumped up and took a swipe towards them as it held onto the balcony bars. After going to a higher balcony for their safety, Angie captured the bear as it attempted to climb higher towards them before retreating to the ground. Angie said, “I had to see how close I could get to her, and I definitely got close enough to see those claws come out! “It was still a very cool experience, but we got kinda freaked out not knowing how high she was going to go. “We were pretty relieved when she started climbing back down.”
