Hyeri Tom shared CCTV footage of her tortoise, Leo, inside the enclosure when the fire started in her backyard in Fullerton, California, on February 8. The heating lamp, designed for reptiles, became too hot, causing sparks to fly, eventually catching the wooden frame and the bedding. Slow-moving, but quick-thinking Leo was able to scurry away with the ever-growing fire in the background. Leo was unharmed, and the fire was attended to by Hyeri’s neighbours just in time with no further damage to the property.
