- Summary The 2026 New York City cold front has been taking its toll on residents and animals alike, as police officers were able to heroically rescue an injured bald eagle from the frozen Hudson River. Bodycam footage shows the moments harbour police officers rescued the injured bald eagle from a floating piece of ice on the river on February 17th. Approaching the bird carefully, an officer placed an animal control leash around the torso while another officer wrapped it in a blanket. They were then able to place the bird inside a crate so they could safely return it to land to be medically treated.
