A series of controlled trials was performed by researchers at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna to test Veronika’s ability to scratch herself. She used her tongue to pick up the stick and began to use it on a specific part of her body. Veronika even knew to use different sides of the brush for various parts of her body, the brush for her upper body, and the handle for her lower. Main researcher Antonio, regarding their findings, said, “It’s astonishing to find that a cow has the capability to do something like this.”
