- Title Police Bravely Enter A Burning Zoo To Save Animals Trapped Inside Enclosures
- Summary Bodycam footage shows the moment police officers entered a burning zoo to save the lives of various animals trapped inside. The devastating footage was captured by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office and took place on January 15th at Zooworld in Panama City Beach, Florida. An officer, named Corporal Pierce, can be seen clearly directing and organising the officers during the blaze to try and help the stuck animals. In an official statement, the director of the zoo stated that an electrical fire inside the lemur enclosure is what caused the chaos. Seven lemurs were tragically lost in the blaze due to extreme smoke inhalation. There were three survivors from the incident, one lemur and two binturongs, named Uranus, Baloo, and Mulan. Since the fire on Thursday morning, the zoo has reopened its doors to the public. In a Facebook post, the zoo stated, “The zoo will look a bit different, but our recovery is progressing. “Our hearts won't be quite as whole, but we have hope! We are looking forward to seeing our extended zoo family and beginning to rebuild.”
