- Title Over 100ft Golf Net Captured Dramatically Collapsing Due To Icy Weather Conditions
- Summary A net over 100ft tall dramatically collapsed due to an ice storm that took place the day before, as avid golfers watched the commotion. The footage was taken by Julie Choate on December 27th, at a TopGolf in Auburn Hills, Michigan. As Julie’s nephew was about to hit a golf ball, a popping noise could be heard. The net, which on average are between 150-170ft tall, can be seen collapsing and falling towards the ground. Various gasps can be heard by golfers around Julie, all shocked by the unfolding sight. An ice shower took place in Auburn Hills the day before, leaving ice on the net and causing it to weigh more. Julie states how seeing the commotion in real life was “crazy to actually see.” A spokesperson for Topgolf said, "Topgolf Auburn Hills is temporarily closed due to structural damage sustained by our safety netting during the recent inclement weather. The safety of our Players, Playmakers (Associates) and the surrounding community is our primary concern. We have secured the site and are working diligently to obtain the specialized equipment required to repair the netting and support cables. Guests with existing reservations are being contacted directly for refunds or rescheduling. We appreciate the community’s patience as we work to meet our rigorous safety standards before reopening. Updates on reopening can be found on the Topgolf website."
