- Title Horrifying Moment Accidental Parachute Deployment Drags Skydiver Out Of Aircraft And Snags On Tail 15,000ft In The Air
- Summary A skydiver was left with injuries to their leg after their reserve parachute prematurely deployed, sending the diver flying into the tail of the plane. On September 20th, a light aircraft carrying skydivers took off from Tully, North Queensland, for a 16-man formation jump. Once they had reached their desired altitude, one skydiver was getting into position when the lever controlling their reserve parachute was snagged, causing it to deploy. The reserve immediately dragged the diver from the plane and slammed them into the tail, with the parachute becoming entangled on the back of the aircraft. The tangled diver was able to cut themselves free from the tail and began their freefall before attempting to deploy their primary parachute. Despite some of the remaining lines being tangled in the primary parachute, the diver was able to land safely with some minor injuries to their legs.
