- Title Big CAT Scan: UK Sanctuary Carries Out Their First Ever CT Scans On Tiger, Leopard and Cheetah
- Summary When a tiger, clouded leopard, and southern African cheetah at The Big Cat Sanctuary began showing signs of mobility trouble, veterinarians brought in a mobile CT scanner to uncover what was happening beneath the fur. On October 27th at The Big Cat Sanctuary in Ashford, a mobile CT machine was brought into the facility to diagnose three large cats that were showing signs of mobility issues. After being safely sedated, the high-resolution scans were carried out by Donna Smyth from Burgess Diagnostics under the close supervision of Dr. Simpson-Brown and Briony Smith, Curator at The Big Cat Sanctuary. Following their scans, the three wild cats were transported back to their respective habitats whilst still sedated, where the anaesthetic was reversed to facilitate a safe and monitored wake-up.
