- Title Woman Documents Her Family's ‘Self Deportation’ Journey From The US
- Summary A woman and her family decided to move back to Cameroon after their Temporary Protected Status (TPS) was revoked by the US government. On July 20, Amelie Tsoungui captured her journey from Chicago, Michigan, to Yaounde, Cameroon, where she left with her brother and father. According to Amelie, she had lived in the United States for the majority of her life and had held an F1 visa for 17 years and a TPS for Cameroon. However, after the government had allegedly terminated her TPS, she moved back to Chicago to utilise the two months given to voluntarily leave the country. Amelie said: “I was heartbroken, but ultimately I felt a weight lifted off my shoulder. “All good things must come to an end. I'm happy to be back in Cameroon.”
