- Title Firefighters Rescue Terrified Dog From Rising Flood Water In Steep Channel
- Summary When local animal services received a call from a public works employee about a stranded dog, the Ventura County Fire Department was dispatched to assist with the emergency rescue mission. On October 14th, the terrified dog was stranded on a collection of reeds and debris in the middle of a flood channel in the Oxnard plains in California, USA. Local fire departments extended a 35-foot ground ladder toward the dog, which allowed a member of the Ventura County Fire Department’s water rescue team to descend and bring the dog to shore. Once safely on shore, the estimated three-year-old female pug or French bulldog mix was placed in the care of the Ventura County Animal Services. Luckily, the dog was unharmed; however, she was not wearing an ID tag or microchip. In a miraculous turn of events, on October 22nd, the dog was adopted by the public works employee, Bryan, who originally spotted the stranded dog. Bryan said, “I knew the moment I saw the dog, now named Willow, that I wanted to adopt her. "When Willow was not reclaimed, my family and I came right away to bring her home!” The final picture is of Bryan and his family with their beloved new rescue dog, Willow.
