Alexander Flodin was taking their advanced open water diving lessons in Gran Canaria, Spain, when the current pulled them out into the distance and ripped one of their fins loose. While losing oxygen, Alexander and their instructor were signalling for help for 45 minutes before someone luckily heard them whistling. A helicopter was sent out as the waves were too dangerous. Despite the almost fatal incident, Alexander allegedly went back out the following day to continue their lessons.
