- Title Overcooked Microwave Brownie Causes House Fire In Freak Accident
- Summary A woman has shared the terrifying story about how a brownie set off a major fire at her home – in a viral video viewed over 12 million times. Kyndall Zachary first noticed smoke emitting from her brownie after overcooking it in the microwave at her house in Archdale, North Carolina, on July 28th. She says she accidentally added extra time on the timer, so the dessert cooked for 2 minutes rather than the intended 20 seconds. She then grabbed the paper plate of brownies and ran them under water, and then threw them away in the trash can. However, the bins in her home don't close the entire way – meaning oxygen could still get inside. This caused a house fire, and within an hour, she was evacuated from her home and the firefighters had arrived. She claims the fire started in the bin almost immediately after she threw it away, as it got overheated in the trash can. The paper towels in the bin also started a spark. Kyndall said: "I was almost asleep when I heard the alarm, so I got up and walked out of my room and turned the corner to see the bright orange glow, smoke and hear the crackling of the fire coming from the kitchen. "I hope my story can bring awareness and prevent more hidden fires from happening. "Although it was a freak accident, freak accidents still happen and it will make me think multiple times before throwing anything away now."
