- Title Great White Shark Spotted Off US Mainland Near Maine Coast
- Summary Authorities in Scarborough, Maine, are warning beachgoers to be cautious after multiple sightings of a large shark — believed to be a great white — were reported earlier this week. According to a news release from the Scarborough Police Department, the city’s marine resource officer first received a report Monday of a sizable shark near Richmond Island and Scarborough Beach. Drone footage captured Monday appears to show a shark measuring between 10 and 12 feet long swimming near the southern tip of Richmond Island, close to Higgins Beach and Scarborough Beach. While the beaches remained open on Tuesday, police advised swimmers and visitors to exercise extra care when entering the water. **NOTE: Video does not have sound**
