- Title Chunky Cat Rushed To Vet After Fat Migrates To Eyeball In Rare Phenomenon
- Summary An overweight cat was rushed to the vets after a large piece of fat mobilised and settled in its eyeball, in a rare medical phenomenon. Vet Jessica Thompson treated the cat at her practice in Portland, Oregon, on July 10th and recorded the before and after results. According to Jessica, the cat's eye had become fully opaque overnight, and she couldn't see past the cornea in her inspection. 12 hours later, the fat dissolved after the medication kicked in. A veterinary eye specialist diagnosed him with "lipemic uveitis" and started him on oral and topical steroids and sent out lab work. Although some cats have a genetic predisposition to this, it is still rare to see this condition in cats, according to Jessica. The cat has now been put on a low-fat diet as a preventative measure. Jessica said: "It was shocking to see this in a cat and it was a first for me, having been in the field for over 20 years. "Cats are amazing and I'm so happy he's back to full vision and living his best life."
