- Summary On July 23rd, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Jennifer Smalls recorded the shocking moment a mother bear and her cub were caught red-handed sniffing about inside her van. In the clip, the van was parked in the driveway with all its doors open as Jennifer and her family started shouting at the bears to try and get them to exit the vehicle. There were rustling movements from inside the van and eventually, a mother bear exited the vehicle, leaving the baby inside. One of Jennifer’s family members reopened the sliding car doors so that the cub could leave the van, which it eventually did by jumping out the back door. Once both bears had left the van, Jennifer and her family quickly clicked the close doors feature on their van and learned a harsh lesson about never leaving their vehicle unlocked in bear country.
