- Title Incredible Moment Bottlenose Dolphin Gives Birth At Zoo For First Time In A Decade
- Summary A pregnant dolphin gave birth to her calf at a zoo in Chicago for the first time in 10 years. The 38-year-old bottlenose dolphin, named Allie, gave birth to the baby at Brookfield Zoo in Chicago on June 7th. The rare footage was caught on camera and shows the mother pushing out her baby as she swims around the tank. The baby then swims side by side with its mother before the pair ascends to the top of the tank. Although the calf was born healthy, it has been reported that it sadly died a week after its birth. A spokesperson for Brookfield Zoo said: "We are deeply heartbroken to share the sudden loss of the four-day-old bottlenose dolphin calf, born early Saturday morning. "The male calf had been showing encouraging signs of development — nursing, slipstreaming, and receiving strong maternal care from his mother, Allie. "Despite 24-hour expert monitoring and support, he experienced a rapid and unexpected decline yesterday evening. Our dedicated scientists and external partners are investigating to help determine the cause."
