- Title Daughter Creates Homemade Arcade Games For Mum With Dementia
- Summary One daughter has gone above and beyond to find new ways of keeping her vulnerable mum entertained every day. Amanda Taplin from Godalming, England, recreated a famous arcade game, the grabber machine, by using her mum's hoist to move her into position. Her mum was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2014 following a stroke when she was 64, so Amanda decided to make things fun and made some games for her to play after she moved into their home. Using the hoist, her mum acted as the grabber while Amanda controlled her movement. Amanda said: “Despite her dementia, she knew exactly what to do. The joy on her face made my day. “She loved it, was laughing and really got quite competitive. “She was only given five years to live and I think being surrounded by love and care has helped her last this long.”
