- Title Paw-lice Intercept Motorbike With Furry Friend Behind The Handlebars
- Summary A dog behind the handlebars of a motorbike was intercepted by police. During a patrol on Alexandra Parade, officers from Sunshine Coast Highway Patrol came across an unusual driver at around 2pm on May 17th. They discovered a woman driving the bike with the pooch sitting in front of her – in between her arms and the handlebars. The woman was slapped with a $376 traffic infringement notice for riding with an animal between her arms, according to Queensland police. In the clip, the officer points out that she is riding with the dog strapped into a front-facing harness. The woman then tells him that she bought the illegal harness from Temu. Senior Sergeant Shane Panoho, from Sunshine Coast Highway Patrol, said, “Drivers are required to have proper control of their vehicle and ensure they have a clear view of the road at all times. “We know how attached some people are to their pets, but it's best to apply a paws-off approach when it comes to our roads. “The rider had purchased the harness online and did not think through the safety implications, particularly if the dog was to react to other road users, pedestrians or animals. “This could place the rider and her pooch in harm’s way or put other motorists at risk. “Although the dog seemed to be comfortable on the bike, we urge riders to practice safe and responsible behaviour on our roads.”
