- Title Police Officer Relieved Of Duty After Fleeing Traffic Stop For Doing 80mph In 40mph Zone
- Summary An Orlando police officer has been relieved of their duty following an altercation with a Seminole County Sheriff’s Deputy and fleeing a traffic stop. The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office reports that Officer Alexander Shaouni was driving 80mph in a 45mph zone on Florida Avenue, Sanford in a marked OPD patrol SUV on June 6th. Body cam footage released by the sheriff’s office shows Shaouni initially ignoring the deputy’s attempt to pull him over with the deputy then blocking the SUV, and both men exit their vehicles. After refusing to hand over his license, the speeding officer then gets back into his vehicle and drives away from the traffic stop. Shaouni was arrested on charges of reckless driving, fleeing and attempting to evade a law enforcement officer with active sirens, and resisting arrest. He was relieved of duty pending investigations by both the sheriff’s office and the Orlando Police Department’s Internal Affairs division. But the state attorney’s office decided not to pursue the case after he completed a pretrial intervention.
