Her dad had just walked their dogs before coming to handle the snake and hadn’t washed his hands yet. Due to the smell of the dogs on her father's had, this allegedly caused the snake to feel threatened and bite his arm. However, Sophie’s dad appeared relaxed and unfazed by the bite as he realised his mistake. After 10 minutes, the snake reportedly let go of her father’s arm. Sophie said, “We just had to wait until the snake released a little to try and detach it from his arm, it took around 10 minutes for it to finally release and go back into the cage.”
