• Summary Colin Bergeron was called to remove a tree from a client’s property but when he assessed the space available to land the lumber, he used an ingenious method to safely cut it down which was captured in a video gathering over 60 million views. At the side of the property in Waterville, Maine, Colin had to cut the tree down and ensure it landed in the space that was available, as a mistake to allow it to fall left or right would result in a flattened home. Therefore, Colin implemented a cutting process that would guide the stump into a cut that was carved out. Instead of traditionally cutting the log at the very bottom with one horizontal cut, a square hole was made and removed, then by using a chainsaw, Colin made two vertical cuts approximately a third toward the centre of the tree from the left and from the right. To complete the falling, two horizontal cuts were made to meet the vertical cuts to allow the tree to fall but not before catching the pre-made incision which satisfyingly dropped the log safely and without issue.
