- Title Biologist Discovers Biggest Snake Species In The World Measuring At 26 ft-long
- Summary Dutch biologist and Professor Freek Vonk, co-author of the paper describing a new species of green anaconda, found himself in awe as he swam next to the wild giant in Brazil's Mato Grosso do Sul state, on July 7 2023. Captured on video, the encounter showcased a massive 26-foot southern green anaconda which was over 200 kg. Previously believed to be the sole species of green anaconda, this titan now shares its domain with the newly described northern green anaconda. Vonk, known for his work on the TV show ‘Freeks Wild World’, was stunned by the sheer size of the creature, which dwarfed even his imposing stature of 6ft 5 inches and 100 kg. Spending an hour alongside the serpent, Vonk marvelled at its serenity, describing the experience as one of the most astonishing of his career, reiterating the endless wonders of the natural world.
