- Title Australian Mother Shows Daughters Stimming Whilst Getting Ready To Help Raise Awareness Of Autism
- Summary An Australian mother has been sharing videos on TikTok of her daughters stimming so she can help raise awareness of autism and to show what this behaviour looks like. Tash Delrosario was at home in New South Wales, when she decided to capture her doing her daughters hair before they were due to go out. Showcasing how they stim a lot if they get excited or anxious, Tash wanted to highlight that by giving them an activity to do can help shift their focus and reduce the stimming. Tash said: “This is me doing my girls' hair, getting them ready for the day. I explain how my girls stim quite a lot and that it’s mostly when it’s before we head out somewhere or if they are excited or anxious about something we are doing. “I also explain how providing them with something that they are interested in can shift their focus and can help reduce it and calm them. “I'm sick of people judging others for giving their kids their iPads to watch whilst at a restaurant or in public, because I know myself, especially with ASD kids who suffer from anxiety, that it can help them feel calmer, resulting in less stimming, if they are watching or playing a game they like, it can help them escape their surroundings.”
