Rare Polar Bear Gathering As Dozens Feast On Rotting Whale Carcass
After a successful whaling season in the remote area of Kaktovik, Alaska, dozens of hungry polar bears flock to feast on the remnants of the whales.
Kaktovik resident Angel Akootchook, captured the rare sight on September 20 as the normally solitary white bears collected in the numbers.
Adult and juvenile bears can be seen ripping off whatever meat can be stripped of the bone while some bury the heads so deep that their fur gets stained red from the blood.
Angel said: "My thoughts were how absolutely amazing these creatures are!"
